Janet Parsons: Oakville, Ontario, Canada; Growing up on the east coast of Canada, Janet has had the ocean at her fingertips and as a result she is constantly enchanted by natures beauty. Her work focuses on and explores the relationships between nature and emotions. When creating images, she captures the spirit and positive energy of living things. The earthy feel of painting on a hard wooden surface has helped her further develop her skill and approach to image making. Janet discovers the pattern, rhythm and approach of each piece by analyzing the grains found on the wooden panels and in effect uses each unique canvas to her full advantage. By layering graphic shapes and organic elements together, the result is a surreal and unique feeling to each painting. Both conceptual and allegorical, her work features bold colour palettes, which amplify her passion and energy. As a recent graduate of the BAA illustration program at Sheridan College, she resides in Oakville, Ontario where she is pursuing her passion for teaching. Janet teaches children's art classes at the Oakville Art Society and is constantly focusing on expanding her freelance illustration career.
